I really hope this one works this time...My last post didn't make it to web land, I will try to work the bugs out as soon as I can...may need a little support from my buddy Dok..

Not a whole lot new on my end, Calgary weather is keeping up to it's reputation....cold one minute then five minutes later freezing feckin cold. One of the many things that I love about this province.

One other thing Calgay has is a high number of anti-war supporters, as was quite evident from this past weekend's peace march. About 5,000 strong took to the streets of Calgary shouting peace slogans and carrying their signs, most of which had messages directed to good ol George Dubya.

Hey, I'm all for peace, but I am pretty sure Bush and all of his cronies (Cheney, Powell, Rumsfeld, Rice and others) already have their collective fingers on that war button, and there isn't much the UN, millions of protesters or Iraq can do about it...

THE OBVIOUS FACT HERE IS WE ARE GOING TO WAR whether we like it or not.!!!!

I don't want to see another World War just as much as the rest of the world (including most of the U.S) You hear that Dubya, your own freakin country doesn't want a war, clean the crap out of your ears and do the right thing here. If you are afraid that So-damn Insane is harbouring Al-Queda or your favorite saying, "weapons of mass destruction," just keep a close eye on the bastard. Be the toilet paper to his shit, stick to him like white on rice or a fat kid on smarties. Hell send in the CIA and assasinate the mofo. Cause if you think pre-war Iraq hates you, just imagine what post-war Iraq is going to be like....And the alternatives aren't that great either. No not YOUR alternative government, I mean Hussein's younger son or sons....heheheheheh. Saddam is a puppy dog compared to these two no brainers.

And oh yeah, what about your new found friends in North Korea, they are going to be knocking on your back door as soon as you start a war. Thinking all of your attention is on Iraq and protecting Turkey (of all places) and BAM, another pearl harbor. Without a moments notice they are gonna be all over you as well...You are diggin a pretty big trench here Mr. Bush.

One thing that disgusted me about the mostly peaceful protest this past weekend here in Calgary, some anti-war sentiments were spray painted on a Korean and a WWII memorial. Whomever this yahoo was, should be fairly proud of himself or herself, you just offended all of Canada's armed forces. HEY LOSER, WHEN WE CATCH YOU, YOU ARE CLEANING OFF ALL YOUR "ARTWORK" WITH YOUR TONGUE, TRUST ME....YOU ARE A LOW LIFE WORM who obviously didn't have any relatives in any war, otherwise you would have realized what you were doing before you actually did it....

Holy cow, it's been about 5 months since I posted here last? I can't believe that, but I guess when your home computer doesn't want to work, what can you do.

well I guess the newest news is if everything goes well in the next couple of days, I will officially be OFF the single market. I met this great chick Rhenee last night through a good friend of mine and his girlfriend. The three of them work at ADT security so that is how they know each other.

The four of us went out to dinner at a place called Jack Astors and had a good time there, then headed out to one of the best pubs here in Calgary, Original Joes and sucked back a couple pints of Aprikat (Apricot Beer). She was a little tired from working early that morning, so she wasn't all that talkative, which she would apologize for later on. But she did provide a couple of very comedic moments, which was cool cause it showed me that she isn't afraid to embarass herself.

Unfortunatly I didn't get a chance to say goodnight to her properly, but she called to say goodnight a couple of minutes later which I thought was really sweet of her.

So we will have to see how things go over the next little while. I am not asking for the world by any means, its just that I like her style already and I would love to persue a relationship with her. Especially since Rhenee and Dave and his gf are moving into a place with a "hottub"yeah baby! A little champagne some strawberries sit back in the hottub with nothing on except a smile and it's a night. But in all seriousness, I am really tired of being single, and this is my best shot of getting back into the game. I will keep you updated on what's happening

PEACE!

Amber Benson & Nicolas Brendon (Buffy);, Antonio Sabato Jr.;, Pam Anderson w/ side kick Kid Rock;, Kristen Kreuk (Smallville);, Vince Carter and Jerome "JYD" Williams (Toronto Raptors); Jerome Iginla (the other Jerome) Canadian Men's Gold and member of the Calgary Flames) & Cassie Campbell (Canadian Women's Gold); Canadian funny man and former member of MAD TV, Will Sasso all conglomerated towards Much Music World Headquarters for the 2002 edition of the Much Music Video Awards. Which were unfortunatly cancelled last year due to the September 11 tragedy.

By far, and this is my opinion, Much Music puts on the finest awards show, bar none, to any other music company. Very little glitz, and just enough glamour are the perfect ingredents for the perfect awards show. (even though they are horribly, horribly pre-selected)

Anyways, there were a few surprises worth noting. First and foremost Avril Lavigne. The 17-year old, skater chick from Nappini Ontario. Lavigne, who just broke onto the scene a couple of months ago with her hit "Complicated," handled the "first-time" spotlight very well from the moment her and her "boys" arrived on top of their SUV, to her performance of "Complicated."

There weren't "many" nerves in her otherwise flawless set. Even stepping out onto the makeshift stage along Queen St, infront of thousands and thousands of onlookers.

The difference between her studio voice and live, stage voice were quite evident, with her live stage voice reigning supreme. For a 17-year old to have a voice like that, and natural (unlike Spears or Moore) is very very rare in my books. Hopefully Lavigne won't be "just another flash-in-the-pan" and gets the recognition she deserves. And not just because she is Canadian, but because she has talent.

But anyhooo...on with the rest of the show.

Canadian "superact" Nickelback opened the extravaganza with a rockin' rendition of their newest hit "Too Bad." Unfortunatly, the last couple of minutes of the set, were overdone by pyrotechnics. Granted, people in the audience probably heard more of the last couple of lines than the people at home, but it was still a little overdone.

First award of the night was for Best Pop Video. Nominees were, and the only two worth mentioning anyway were

  • Canadian songstress (who over or under did it for her wardrobe) Amanda Marshall - "Oh My God (I woke up)
  • David Usher - Black, Black Heart.
  • (winner)
Usher wasn't a surprise considering the rest of the nominees were Remy Shand, Wave and Jordy Birch.

Now the next award, for the best International Video by an Artist as well as the best International Video by a Group, both had a whopping 10 nominees! What is the sense of having ten people/groups in one catergory other than to suck a whole lot of ass. It seemed to take most of the show just to name them...Probably the only problem I had with the entire show.

Best International Video by an Artist

  • Shakira
  • Not a real surprise, but I was kinda pulling for Pink, cause in my opinion has more going for her, where Shakira only has the whole hip shaking thing going for her. But god bless her anyway.

Third Award of the evening: Best Direction in a Video This was one of the heaviest contested awards of the night, with all the nominees being, of course, Canadian!

  • David Usher - Black, Black Heart (directed by Frank Bernard)
  • Nickleback - Too Bad (Directed by Nigel Dick)
  • Sloan - If It Feels Good Do It (Directed by Noble Jones)
  • Sum 41 - Rock Is What We're All About (Directed by Marc Klasfeld)
  • Swollen Members feat. Moka Only - Fuel Injected (Directed by Wendy Morgan)
  • . This was the second time I was right for the evening. For Vancouver's own, underground hip-hoppers Swollen Members, this was one of four awards on the evening. The highest total of any group or artist of the evening.

Next Award of the evening, Much Vibe Best Rap Video followed a very lacklustre performance by Atlanta based and Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst produced Puddle of Mudd.

The award was Swollen Members third of the evening. Just prior to the award, Swollen Members feat. Moka Only put on a tremendous show for the fans that braved the wind and rain on Queen St.

The Much Loud Best Rock Video was next. The second catergory that was, "Nickelback" stacked so to speak. The nominees were:

  • Chad Kroger with (Saliva's)Josey Scott) - Hero: Spiderman SoundtrackDefault - Deny
  • Nickelback - How You Remind Me
  • (WINNER)
  • Nickelback - Too Bad
  • Sum 41 - Rock It's What We're All About
  • Knowing that Chad Kroger/Nickelback had a three out of five chance of winning, NOBODY in their right minds should have doubted that Chad would win an award.

Kristen Kreuk from the WB's Smallville, was on hand to hand out the first of four People's Choice Awards.

Nominees for Peoples Choice for International Artist were:

  • Enrique Igliasis
  • Ja Rule
  • Pink
  • Shakira - (WINNER)
  • I have already said enough about Shakira tonite, and that wasn't even including her "performance."

Nominees for People's Choice for Favorite Canadian Group were:

  • Baby Blue Soundcrew
  • Default
  • Nickleback
  • Sum 41
  • Swollen Members feat. Moka Only
  • Well for me, this was a major surprise for me, and hopefully to a lot of you. I figured Swollen Members were a run away with this, with Nickleback a very close second....

Well it is about beddy by time for me for now...and really there wasn't much more to the show....All in all, Much Music put on a helluva show, and again, I have to say how impressed I was with new comer, Avril Lavigne if you have any comments please email me at davelavo_99@yahoo.ca

Ok...HOPEFULLY this doesn't just add on to my first blog. I am new to this whole thing, so bear with me.

Watching TV last night, flipping through the channels, cause most stations are on their summer hiatus (BRING BACK DARK ANGEL) eh...hem...Anyways, there I was flipping through channels and happened on the post-game interviews/championship celebrations for the NBA. It was no big surprise that the Lakers won...and if you had any thought of the Nets winning, I have to commend your braveness, cause I was right there with you, hoping BEYOND hope that they might pull off a big upset.

Now, at the time, I had no idea who won the MVP trophy...that is till reading this mornings paper. And to my disgust It was Shaq. Yes that big oaf that the Lakers like to call a basketball player, won the MVP again. If my memory serves me correctly, this is his second MVP trophy in three years.

My next question may or may not surprise you, but, WHAT THE HELL ARE THESE PEOPLE SMOKING? And WHO GAVE THEM THE RIGHT TO VOTE? Sure, if I was 320+ pounds and 7" tall, I could win an MVP, cause all I would have to do is stand there and wait for the ball.

To self: Oh, look at me! I am right under the basket, and I don't even have to jump to dunk.

It is ludacrous to think that someone with absolutly NO talent, could be an MVP. It takes NO talent to stand under the basket, turn around and throw it down....I mean for christ sakes, if it weren't for Kobe or even Rick Fox, or Robert Horry, the Lakers wouldn't be in the finals to begin with.

Upstart Sacremento almost beat them in the conference finals. Kobe came in with the clutch drives. Fox came off the bench and was a pleasant surprise, and Horry showed he could shoot and make it count when he needed to. Meanwhile, there is big, dumb-ass, wannabe rap artist, standing under the basket, doing NOTHING and he gets MVP....It just blows my mind. That is why I was hoping for a Sacremento/New Jersey final. Jason Kidd Vs. Mike Bibby -- Kenoyn Martin Vs. Robert Horry....That kind of a series would have been more television friendly.

Shaq, buddy, take my advice RETIRE, PLEASE!

In a little under two weeks time, thousands and thousands of people will be honing in on Cowtown. Some with good reason, I would say a safe 95% and the other 5% have no business here whatsoever.

I am talking about the G8 Summit taking place in K-Country, about 45 mins northwest of Calgary. Now the major problem most protesters have already, is that they have no where to set up camp for their little pow-wows. Calgary Mayor Dave "Bronco" Bronconier has outlawed ANY protester to squat on any public campground during the two day "supermeeting."

Now, I don't have a problem with the whole protest thing. I am a strong believer in the right to free speech. What I don't believe in is a massive group of people staying a campground or other public property, doing their thing and leaving...without cleaning up. And that is exactly what would happen. A place where thousands and thousands of people go on a weekly basis, ruined because of the careless acts of a few.

The other major problem this may or may not create is bedlam in downtown Calgary. If these "protesters" have no where to go, the next area they are going to head to is a major metropolis, such as Calgary. Lets just hope, come June 28th, our TV screens are bombarded with scenes of violence coming from my city. Because..IF a protester is going to go out of their way to keep me from my day to day business, THERE WILL BE TROUBLE...
